The Florida football team isn’t the only hot team on the University of Florida campus. The Gator men’s basketball team is 5-0 and currently #7 in the polls. Florida has a big test Thursday night though as the Marquette Golden Eagles come to town.
Marquette is 5-1 on the season, with their only loss coming at the hands of the Butler Bulldogs. The Gators knocked off Marquette 68-58 last year in the Sweet 16.
Florida center Patric Young says there are some differences with Marquette this year.
Florida coach Billy Donovan says seeing Marquette last year helps Florida recognize their style of play.
The Gators come into the game at 84th in the country in field goal percentage shooting just over 46 percent from the field. Senior Kenny Boynton says ball movement must improve to get better shots.
Meanwhile the Gators average just 13 assists per game, 174th in the country. Coach Donovan says the Gators need to improve as a team offensively.
The Gators are in the thick of a difficult schedule, playing at FSU and at Arizona following the Marquette game.
Young says the team is about to get a gut check in the upcoming weeks.
Boynton says the Gators however can only only focus on the game at hand.
