Florida Swim & Dive Opens SEC Championships With Gold In Women’s 1-Meter Diving

The Florida swimming and diving teams started strong at the SEC Swimming & Diving Championships at the University of Georgia’s Gabrielsen Natatorium when sophomore Camyla Monroy earned the Gators’ first gold medal of the meet in the women’s 1-meter diving event.

Monroy’s Record-Breaking Performance
Monroy delivered a career-best score of 350.45, coming just 0.10 points short of the program record set in 2022. Her victory made her the eighth Florida female diver to win the event and the first since 2021. She also improved upon her silver medal finish from last year, when she scored 316.35.

 

Other Gator Performances
Florida’s Casey Greenberg also competed in the women’s 1-meter diving event. She finished 26th out of 44 divers in prelims, earning a score of 241.85.

Monroy’s win helped Florida score 32 points, placing the team fifth overall. Texas leads with 118 points, followed by Kentucky, LSU and Texas A&M.

What’s Next?
Day 2 of the SEC Championships features men’s 3-meter diving and relay events. The time trials start at 10 a.m., with diving prelims at noon. The 200 medley relay begins the 5 p.m. finals, followed by the 3-meter diving A final and the 800 free relay.

Florida’s Title Pursuit
The Gators are aiming for a third consecutive SEC title sweep. The men’s team is chasing its 13th straight SEC championship, while the women’s team looks to secure its third consecutive title.
