Gators Women’s Golf Moves to 2nd at Regional Challenge

The Florida Gators Women’s Golf team made its second appearance at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge.

Round Two Recap

The Gators moved up in the leaderboard, starting off the day in fourth place and finishing in second. This was their eighth consecutive round of par or better, shooting a total team score of 280 (-4) and placing themselves five shots back from the lead.

Florida’s current total score is 564 (-4), trailing behind USC (-9). Texas (+3), South Carolina (+4), and Oregon (+8) make up the rest of the leaderboard.  Florida is one out of the two schools to have under-par rounds.

Freshman Siuue Wu recorded a round two of 72 (+1), placing her three shots back from the individual lead at T3. Her overall score sits at 4-under after her 5-under round yesterday.

Elaine Widjaja recorded the lowest round for the Gators with a score of 68 (-3), aiding her climb of 38 spots to tie for 41st. She improved by 12 shots in comparison to her round from day one and it is her sixth round under par this season.

Two Gators shot rounds of 70 (-1) — Paula Francisco and Addison Klonoswki. Klonowski achieved a bogey-free round and is tied for 18th place (+2). Francisco is tied for 13th at +1.

Also tied with her teammate for 13th place is Inès Archer, shooting a 72 (+1) for her second round.

Sophie Stevens (+13) is competing as an individual and has tied for 74th.

Coming Up

The Gators will make their final appearance Tuesday. The organizers have slated tee times for an 11:15 a.m. shotgun start, California time.
