NEWBERRY – Newberry High School’s boys basketball team finished its historic regular season undefeated Thursday with a 72-34 win against P.K. Yonge (8-15).
The Panthers honored their seven seniors before recording their 21st win against zero losses.
First Half
The 6-foot-2 senior Dylan Strappy hit back-to-back 3s followed up by an assist to put Newberry on top early. The Panthers held onto the lead with solid shooting and creating turnovers on defense.
An 8-0 run to start the second quarter widened the gap. They ended the first half up 35-21. Senior Jacob Green led NHS with seven points in the half and a 13 on the game.
The level of play escalated on both ends of the court in the second half. Newberry held P.K. Yonge (8-15) to six points in the third quarter and seven in the fourth. All while more than doubling its score with a strong offensive front.
The Panthers were led in the second half by 6-foot-4 junior Juwan Scippio with eight points followed by Green with six and junior Henry Matthias and senior Collin Dunnmore with five each.

Dunnmore said that in order to keep this momentum in the postseason the Panthers must be unselfish, play as a team and play aggressive.
“It’s just a dream come true, living the dream, living it with my teammates,” Green said.
2025 FHSAA Boys Basketball District Tournaments 3A District 3
The Panthers received a first-round by in the 3A-District 3 tournament and host a Wednesday semifinal against the winner of four seed Interlachen (11-12) -five seed Baldwin (6-13).
