OCALA, Fla.—Vanguard defeated Forest for the fifth straight time and grabbed the title as district champions for the first time since 2003, in Friday’s 57-3 victory.
It was a battle of the unbeaten and bragging rights all over Marion County for the next 365 days. But, from the start… you could see it was the night for the Knights. Vanguard had a dominating lead by halftime with the scoreboard showing 50-3 and the home crowd loving every minute of it.
Forest’s Connor Davis is responsible for the Wildcats only points after he drilled a 45-yard field goal attempt.
Vanguard’s Senior Quarterback N’kosi Perry compiled up 224 total yards after going 9-of-13 and four touchdowns. The University of Miami commit has now defeated Forest all four years on the varsity roster—The only Vanguard quarterback to do so.
Regardless of Friday’s results, both teams have clinched a spot in the playoffs and could possibly meet again when it’s all said and done.
The series between these dates back to 1971 and now, for the first time ever, Vanguard can say they lead the series, 23-22-1. The Knights are sporting an 8-0 record and ranked second in Class 6A while the Wildcats fall to 7-1 and look to bounce back next week.

Vanguard will hit the road to face Lake Gibson next week for the last regular season game. On the other side, Forest will take a trip to Citrus for their last regular season game.
