Tiger Woods is playing in his 26th Masters Tournament from April 11-14.
The five time champion is looking to put on the green jacket for a sixth time. Woods withdrew from the tournament during Saturday play in last year’s Masters due to a plantar fasciitis injury, which is tissue inflammation in the heel.
Tiger Longevity
Tiger Woods became the youngest ever Masters winner in 1997 at 21 years old. Now, at 48, he is looking to become the oldest player to ever win the tournament, just five years after becoming the second oldest to win it behind the great, Jack Nicklaus.
After winning in 97′, he proceeded to win four more times, including becoming the second player to ever win the tournament in back-to-back years in 2001 and 2002. After his win in 2005, he went on a fourteen year dry spell before his next Masters win in 2019.
With Woods’ experience and knowledge on the notoriously tough course, there might be something left in the tank for the five-time winner.

Injury History
Tiger has had a very unfortunate run of injuries throughout his career. Until recently, they haven’t seemed to slow him down. That being said, during his long career, he has not participated in the Masters four times due to injury.
With many knee and back issues throughout his career, as well as recent ankle issues from injuries sustained in a car accident in 2021, Tiger is in pain, yet ready to play.

Tiger’s Chances
With the success and high-level play from golfers such as Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka and many others, it’s no doubt that there are questions surrounding Tiger’s ability to still play at an elite level.
That being said, he feels confident. With the weather looking to be better than it was last year, that will help Tiger. Due to his injuries, warmer weather suits Woods with his aches around his body.
While Tiger withdrew from the Genesis Invitational earlier this year due to the flu, he is confident heading into this weekend.

Woods is looking to match Jack Nicklaus and become a six-time Masters Tournament winner, the most all-time.
