Alex Anzalone and Gator Defense Ready for LSU

The LSU Tigers ran for 418 yards Saturday. Let that sink in. Now imagine that outrageous ground number with an absent Leonard Fournette. The Tigers found a way to get it done on the ground even without their premier back. A 42-7 win over the Missouri Tigers gives LSU confidence coming into Gainesville even without their head coach Les Miles. The Gator defense must be ready for a battle up front.

Gator Defense Motivated

On the other side of LSU’s running game will be the Gator defense led by 6’3 redshirt Junior linebacker Alex Anzalone. The Florida linebacking crew are coming off a tough ground test facing Vanderbilt’s Ralph Webb. Facing a run game like LSU this week is what keeps guys like Anzalone motivated.

Anzalone has made a huge impact in 2016 racking 32 tackles alongside 2.5 sacks on the year. With a banged up defensive line, Anzalone and Jarrad Davis are going to play a huge role against a potent LSU rushing attack. Anzalone says they are going to need some young guys to step up.

Even if Fournette isn’t 100 percent healthy this Saturday in the Swamp, look for Darrius Guice to make an impact. As LSU’s leading rusher he has filled the shoes thus far of Fournette. Last week against Missouri he attacked the Tigers for 163 yards and three touchdowns. His three scores were matched by Darrell Williams who also had three ground touchdowns on Saturday.

The Florida defense will have their hands full on Saturday at noon when they host the Tigers in what will be a pivotal SEC game for both sides.
