College football is in entrenched in the 2023 regular season. Six weeks in and upsets are in abundance, teams are showing their true colors and the Top 25 is as dynamic as ever. Another week of action means more movement in the leaderboards, but regardless of positioning, here’s three teams who find themselves feeling like winners, losers and weirdos after Week 6:
Winners: No. 5 Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma entered the weekend at No. 12 in the Top 25 and a massive rivalry matchup ahead.
The Sooners took on the Texas Longhorns in the last Big XII iteration of the Red River showdown. Both teams were undefeated after five weeks, but Texas had two ranked wins, including a statement victory against then-No. 3 Alabama.
The Longhorns entered the contest as the third-ranked team in the country.
Both teams put up fights, but Sooners quarterback Dillon Gabriel found the endzone with 15 seconds left to win the game 34-30. Gabriel finished 285 yards through the air, 113 by ground and two rushing touchdowns plus the game-winning touchdown throw.
The Sooners have boosted their season outlook exponentially with the win, but a lackluster schedule to finish the year may keep them out of playoff contention.
Losers: No. 21 Notre Dame

The Irish had firmly placed themselves as a Top 10 team in college football. They boasted an impressive 5-1 record headed into week 6 with the only loss coming in a 17-14 contest against Ohio State. With a schedule including current No. 10 USC to go, a clean finish may have put Notre Dame in conversation for the fourth playoff spot if things fell in place.
Then Louisville happened.
The No. 25 (now 14) Cardinals took advantage of possibly being overlooked and pulled away late. Louisville won 33-20 at home. Louisville isn’t a bad team by any means, but a loss to the Cardinals likely keeps Notre Dame far away from playoff conversations this year.
Weirdos: No. 25 Miami Hurricanes

Miami was already a head-scratcher before its 23-20 loss to unranked Georgia Tech this weekend.
Undefeated, sure, but a win against then-No. 23 (now unranked) Texas A&M was joined by a flock of buy games. With North Carolina and Florida State on the way, the Yellow Jackets were not expected to be a test for the ‘Canes. Instead, an unexplainable choice to run instead of kneel out the clock with just seconds left led to a fumble and a Tech game winner.
The loss was a freak accident. In the end, it likely won’t derail the Hurricanes’ season. But it is a setback.
Miami is teetering in the polls and is likely far from any playoff consideration now.
Everyone is left to wonder — What the heck happened?
With Week 7 and headline matchups on the horizon, the shakeups, wins, losses and weirdness are far from gone. It’s up to next week to see what happens next.
