Ole Miss Set to Host SEC West Rival Arkansas

No. 16-ranked Ole Miss is set to host Arkansas Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

After a 55-49 upset over No. 13 LSU, the Ole Miss Rebels rose four spots in this week’s AP Poll and moved to a record of 4-1. Their lone loss was delivered by Alabama two weeks prior.

On the other hand, the 2-3 Arkansas Razorbacks will look to claim their first conference victory of the season, coming into this game at 0-2 in the SEC. The team will also look to snap it’s three game losing streak.

What’s at Stake?

The Razorbacks hold the all time series at 37-29-1 and won the matchup 42-27 last year when the game was played in Fayetteville.

The Rebels currently hold the top spot in the SEC as far as scoring goes, averaging 44.6 points per game and the second spot when it comes to overall offense, averaging over 500 yards per game.

Arkansas has been struggling on defense lately so this will be Ole Miss’ chance to keep its hot streak going.

For the Razorbacks, it’s snapping a three game slide and stopping their season from going from bad to worse. In each of their losses, the defense has allowed over 30 points and the offensive line has struggled to protect quarterback KJ Jefferson; they’ve allowed 18 sacks so far this season, which is the third most in the SEC.

Rebels’ Last Time Out

An instant classic — that’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of last week’s LSU vs Ole Miss game.

The two teams combined for over 1300 yards of offense and 14 touchdowns in this all-out battle that came down to the wire. After a 13-yard Tre Harris touchdown, followed by a Quinshon Judkins two-point conversion, with 39 seconds left on the clock, the Ole Miss defense was able to hold off the Tigers and claim the win.

Razorbacks’ Last Outing

Last week, the Razorbacks fell to Texas A&M 34-22. The defense struggled, allowing over 400 yards, despite forcing three turnovers.

The offense was unable to pick up the slack, posting just 174 yards with only 42 of those coming on the ground. The Razorbacks were inefficient on third down throughout the game, converting just 5-of-15 attempts.
