Three Gators were part of gold medal team at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium.
Out of the six spots on the team, the Gators had half with Leanne Wong, Skye Blakley and Kayla DiCello. Also on the team was star Simone Biles, Shilese Jones and Joscelyn Roberson.
Breaking Records
The U.S. Women’s team has become the most decorated gymnastics team ever.
The team has won every world team title since 2011, giving them the most consecutive gold medals. The previous record holder was China’s Men’s team which spanned from 2003-2014. This win was the team’s seventh consecutive team title.

This team championship gave Biles her 33rd major championship making her the most decorated female gymnast ever. This is also her 20th world championship gold medal.

Roberson did not compete in any of the rotations, and DiCello served as the traveling replacement athlete.
Team Scores
The USA Women’s team came in first place and scored 167.729 points. This was 2.199 more than second place Brazil and 3.665 more than third place France.
USA Gymnastics
Both Biles and Jones will compete on Friday in the Women’s All-Around Final.
Out of the 24 women that will compete, Biles and Jones had the two highest scores in the qualifying round.
Biles scored an incredible 58.865 and Jones had a score of 56.932.
In third place was Jessica Gadirova from Great Britain with a score of 56.766.
While in Gainesville
The three Gators on this championship team were vital parts of last years runner-up Nation Champion team for UF.
Wong and Blakely will look to lead the Gators gymnastics team this season, as last year’s star Trinity Thomas is no longer on the team.
DiCello is taking the year off of collegiate competition to focus on the 2024 Olympics.
Gators gymnastics begins Jan. 12, as they host Fisk University, George Washington University and Talladega College.
