Gators Soccer Team Thrashes LSU, 4-0

Florida defeated Louisiana State, 4-0, Friday in front of a season-high 2,029 fans at the LSU Soccer Stadium.

Florida (5-4-3, 1-3-1 SEC) extends its record in Baton Rouge to 10-0-1 all-time. The last time these two teams met, Florida won 4-0 at Donald R. Dizney Stadium on Oct. 24, 2021.

Momentus First Half

Florida went on the attack from the start. After Julianne Leskauskas jumped on a backpass misplayed by the LSU goalkeeper, she scored on an empty net just inside the corner of the box in the 16th minute. This was Leskauskas’ second goal of the season and Florida’s earliest first-half goal since 2022.

A set play followed just over six minutes later. Megan Hinnenkamp was located a step above the six-yard box when Madison Young hit the long free kick. At 21:26, Hinnenkamp’s header flick scored between a Tiger defender and the LSU goalkeeper.

Double After the Half

Two more Gator goals were scored in the second half.

Anna DeLeon headed in Madeline Pirrello’s deep cross from the far corner of the six-yard box in the 68th minute. DeLeon scored her second collegiate goal and first since starting UF’s scoring at Stetson for the 2022 season.

74 minutes into the match, Hinnenkamp earned a brace. At midway through Florida’s half, Oakley Rasmussen cleared a LSU free kick. The ball was headed to Hinnenkamp, who then moved down the right side of the field and scored with a right-footed shot from 22 yards. With six goals, Hinnenkamp leads all freshmen in the SEC and leads UF.

The Tigers (7-4-1, 2-2-0) were unable to register a shot on goal during the match, as Florida outshot them 16-6.

“This was long overdue. Our group has done enough to win a few times in conference play and it’s not fallen our way, so I’m really happy for them to have a win like this. Wins are hard to come by but road wins are even harder, so this is something our group should be proud of, UF coach Samantha Bohon told the school’s website.
