The Tampa Bay Rays cannot lose. The team opened their season with a 13-0 winning streak. Tampa Bay is now one game away from breaking the record held by the 1982 Atlanta Braves and 1987 Milwaukee Brewers, 13 straight wins to start the season. The Rays remain not only the team with the best record, but the only undefeated team in the MLB.
The Rays swept Boston at home, winning 9-3.

Early in the Game
Boston and Tampa Bay stayed tied at 1-1 through the third inning. Boston struck first in the top of the 1st with a homer to left field by Rob Refsnyder. Tampa Bay retaliated in the bottom of the 1st with a homer to center field by Yandy Díaz.
Tampa Bay leads the MLB with 32 home runs. They are one of the few teams along with 2019 Seattle Mariners (33) and the 2000 St. Louis Cardinals (33) to hit at least 32 home runs in the first 13 games.
In the top of the 4th, the Red Sox scored making it 2-1. Enrique Hernández grounded into a fielder’s choice to the shortstop allowing Justin Turner to score.
Can the Rays Make a Come Back
Boston scored again in the 5th making the Red Sox up 3-1. Turner hit a line shot to center allowing Christian Arroyo to score from third.
The Red Sox thought they had a chance at giving the Rays their first loss to the season until Francisco Mejía started the hot streak in the 5th.
Mejía hit a single to right field advancing Harold Ramírez home and Josh Lowe to second. The start to a hot inning scoring 7 runs bringing the score to 8-3.
Tampa Bay Rays Making History
After a scoreless 6th inning, Brandon Lowe hit homer to right center field in the 7th. The 8th and 9th inning remained scoreless giving the Rays their 13th win of the season.
Next up for the Rays, they head to Canada to take on the Toronto Blue Jays for a three-game series.
