Gators Gymnastics Seeking Redemption

The Gators gymnastics team has been nothing short of dominant in recent memory. This is a program that won back-to-back national titles in 2013 and 2014. They have been at the top of the SEC ever since. Florida comes into the championship rounds as the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament. They will face LSU, Denver and Cal Berkley with a chance to qualify for the final round.

Trinity Thomas Injury Update

In the Pittsburgh regional, Trinity Thomas suffered a lower-leg injury, causing her to miss the regional final. Since the injury, Thomas has been listed as day-to-day with a probability that she returns for the championship rounds.

Thomas has been having a spectacular year for the Gators. She was named the WCGA Region 6 Gymnast of the Year for the third time in her career. Her legendary tenure at Florida would be even more historic with a national championship win this year. Her health will be critical for the Gators chances at winning it all.

Semifinals Matchup

Session I of the semifinals will include the following teams: No. 2 Florida, No. 6 LSU, No. 7 California and No. 14 Denver. The four teams will compete Thursday afternoon. The two teams with the highest scores will advance to championship round and face the two highest scoring teams from Session II.

Florida will be the highest seed in this session and is expected to advance due to great roster depth. Leone Wong has been incredible for the Gators all season. There will be a lot of eyes on her if Thomas isn’t able to compete.

The other three schools in Session I are extremely talented. The Golden Bears of Cal defeated the Gators in the regional round of this year’s tournament. This will definitely give them confidence and momentum when facing this talented Florida team.

Gators Potential Rematch with Oklahoma

In the 2022 national championship, the Oklahoma Sooners narrowly defeated the Gators to secure the title. Both teams are at the top of the rankings yet again and are on course to collide in the title game. Florida is hungry for another shot at the championship and beating Oklahoma would make it that much more meaningful.
