UCF Allegedly Altering Bats, Former Knights Baseball Players Say

Allegations were released on social media Monday from former UCF baseball players saying that they were using altered bats. The players who came forward were not named in the allegations.

Trace Trylko of the Sons of UCF podcast was able to get an interview with UCF head coach Greg Lovelady and get his thoughts on the allegations.

UCF baseball “did an internal investigation and handled what needed to be handled,” said Lovelady.

Statistically, there is a drastic difference between the first 20 and last 12 games the Knights have played. In the first 20 games, the Knights went 15-5. Since then, they’re 2-10.

What Does “Altering” Mean?

A rolled bat has been proven to add 20-40 feet to a hit baseball and leads to higher exit velocity for the ball.

If these allegations are found to be true, it’ll be interesting to see what actions are taken within the UCF baseball program.

The Knights are in the currently in the middle of a transition from the American Athletic Conference to the Big 12.
