Dominant eighth inning for the Gators on offense

The eighth inning is when everything changed for Florida. After grinding all the way back to a one-run deficit, the Gator offense began to pour on the runs in that inning as six hits helped produce five total runs. And the first of the five runs came from pinch-hitter Matt Prevesk singling to left field to tie the game. The last two runs came from a single by Josh Rivera to left field.

Gators grind their way to a victory over the Seminoles

Florida starting pitcher Tyler Nesbitt started well but in the second inning the Seminoles scored the first runs of the game. After two doubles from Florida State in the inning scored one run, the Gators made an error that resulted in another. After the second, the Seminoles led the Gators 2-0.

The Gators finally got on the board in the fourth inning. A two-out double from Ty Evans brought in a run for the Gators in the top of the fourth. This run cut the deficit to 2-1 in favor of the Seminoles.

Nesbitt made it to the fourth inning with two outs before being pulled. Cade Fisher came out of the bullpen to replace Nesbitt in the fourth. He inherited two base runners on second and third base. Unfortunately, Fisher could not finish the inning and would be pulled before even getting an out. The first batter he walked, the next hit a double to score all three runners on base and then he walked his final batter before being replaced. Coming in to finish the bottom of the fourth for him was Nick Ficarrotta. Ficarrotta did his job and got the Gators out of the inning with no further runs being scored.  Philip Abner came to the mound to finish off the fifth inning for Ficarrotta.

The next four innings went really well for the Gators. After trailing the Seminoles 5-1 at the end of the fourth, the Gators headed into the ninth inning leading 9-5. Furthermore, Philip Abner in his outing racked up six strikeouts, striking the side out in both the sixth and seventh innings in an outstanding relief outing.

Closer Brandon Neely would be the final guy on the mound following Abner in the eighth and ninth inning. Neely did what was required of him by getting the six outs necessary to beat the Seminoles.

In the end, the third-ranked Gators took down the Seminoles 9-5 in Tallahassee.
