The number two Florida gymnastics squad fell just short of the number one Oklahoma Sooners Friday Night. The final score was 197.950-197.700 from the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman.
Sooner Perfection
To kick off the meet, the Gators started on the uneven bars while the Sooners were on vault.
Sophomore Danielle Sievers started off for Oklahoma with a huge vault, perfectly sticking the landing. She posted a 9.950 to match her career-high and put the Sooners on the board.

Graduate student Allie Stern followed Sievers with a 9.875, before junior Katherine LeVasseur put up a 9.900 for Oklahoma.
Olivia Trautman, another graduate student, posted a perfect 10.0 for the Sooners with a beautiful vault. Not a single quiver could be found on the landing.

After perfection from Trautman, sophomore Jordan Bowers added a 9.875. To close out the rotation for Oklahoma, junior Audrey Davis posted a 9.850.
On the bars, sophomore Sloane Blakely kicked it off for the Gators, posting a strong 9.925. Junior Victoria Nguyen was up next for Florida; she followed Blakely’s stuck landing with a stick of her own, posting a 9.875.
Kayla DiCello, the defending SEC Freshman of the Week, added a 9.850 to the Gators’ score before near perfection from graduate student Trinity Thomas (9.975).

After a 9.900 from sophomore Leanne Wong, Riley McCusker rounded out the first rotation for Florida with a 9.850.
After one rotation, the Sooners led the Gators 49.600-49.525. Heading into the second, Oklahoma was on bars and Florida took on the vault.
Scares and Sticks
Senior Payton Richards started on the vault for the Gators with a beautifully stuck landing, posting a 9.900.
Wong put up a powerful 9.950 to set her season high. Blakely followed Wong with a 9.850 after a sizable hop on the landing.

DiCello responded with a strong 9.950 of her own before a 9.875 from Trinity Thomas. The end of the rotation saw a scary fall from Victoria Nguyen. Thankfully, she was able to get up and walk back to her team.
Over on the bars, Sievers put up a season-high 9.925for the Sooners before a 9.825 from sophomore Danae Fletcher.

Fletcher was followed by Trautman with a 9.900 and senior Ragan Smith with a 9.800.
Jordan Bowers and Audrey Davis put up two strong scores to close out the rotation for the Sooners (9.925 and 9.950, respectively).

Halfway Through
Two rotations in, the Sooners (99.125) mounted the beam and the Gators (99.050) took the floor.
Senior Jenna Dunn took the beam first for Oklahoma. She added another stuck landing to the meet with a 9.900.
After a 9.825 from Trautman, Bowers added a powerful performance with a perfectly stuck landing (9.950).

Graduate student Leah Clapper was first in the lineup for the Gators, posting a 9.750. Clapper was followed by a season-high 9.850 from freshman Lori Brubach.
An uncharacteristic step out of bounds from graduate student Rachel Baumann (9.725) set the Gators back halfway through the rotation. Payton Richards answered with a solid 9.900 before a beautiful performance from Wong (9.950).

Last in the rotation for the Gators, redshirt freshman Morgan Hurd added a 9.700 with a slight step out of bounds.
One to Go
With one rotation left, Florida trailed Oklahoma 148.600-148.225. The fourth and final rotation saw the Gators on beam and the Sooners on the floor.
Sloane Blakely kicked off the rotation for Florida with a beautifully stuck landing, adding a career-high 9.950 to the Gators’ score. With this score, Blakely tied her collegiate best and set her season high.

Junior Ellie Lazzari added her own stuck landing off of the beam, posting a 9.925. DiCello followed up with a 9.850 halfway through the final rotation.
Both Trinity Thomas and Leanne Wong put up a 9.875. The last Gator in the rotation was Riley McCusker with a 9.275 after a fall from the beam.
On the floor for Oklahoma, junior Bell Johnson posted a 9.725. Davis put up a strong 9.900 before a 9.850 from Danae Fletcher.

There was one 10.0 on the night (Trautman) to give her the vault title. Florida’s Trinity Thomas took the bars (9.975). Sloane Blakely and Jordan Bowers tied for the beam (9.950). The floor title went to Leanne Wong and Faith Torrez (9.950). Wong also took the all-around title (39.675)
Next for the Gators
The Gators will travel to Denton, Texas, next Sunday for a quad meet against Texas Women’s University, the University of Washington and North Carolina State University. Their last regular-season meet is set for 2 p.m.
