The Lightning (36-17-3) returned home to take on the Anaheim Ducks (17-34-7) following a 5-4 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights, while Anaheim came in looking to snap a five-game losing streak.
Game Trends
Both teams got off to a slow start, unable to score a goal in the first period. Tampa held the early shot advantage, but strong play from Anaheim goaltender Lukas Dostal kept the Lightning off the board.
The second period, however, was a much different story.
The Lightning exploded on the offensive end, scoring four goals in the period from four different players. Tampa Bay’s defense was extremely active in blocking shots as well.
The Lightning entered the third period with a 4-0 lead.

Tampa was able to close out strong on both ends, tacking on two more goals to extend their lead.
Anaheim did avoid the shutout, thanks to its lone-goal courtesy of center Ryan Strome, but the Ducks were only able to muster 25 shots on goal by hand a suffocating Lightning defense.
Tampa eventually took the victory, 6-1.
Lightning Numbers
The most prominent goal of the night was scored by Brayden Point, as he netted his 200th career goal in the third period.
This milestone comes in the midst of a Tampa season that has seen team captain Steven Stamkos hit 1,000 career points and defensemen Victor Hedman record his 500th career assist.
Point is the latest Lightning player to reach a career milestone, as the team continues to have success and push for another Stanley Cup.
