State of U.S. Soccer; The Fans’ Perspective

Jacksonville, FL — Ahead of the kickoff between the United States and Trinidad & Tobago we spoke to several fans attending the match on what they think about the direction of the team.

After a fourth place finish in this summer’s Copa America Centenario tournament, the U.S. has turned their attention to the qualifying rounds of the 2018 World Cup.

There are many question marks surrounding the squad as the team begins advancing through the qualifying rounds.

One of the biggest question marks is what is deemed to be “successful” for the Americans when they go to Russia.

In the previous World Cup, the U.S. was eliminated by Belgium in the Round of 16 despite advancing out of what was coined the “Group of Death” with Germany, Portugal, and Ghana.

Optimists believe that this squad has the chance to advance to the quarterfinals like the 2002 team did. But there are many young faces that will need to step up in order to make that dream a reality.
