Charlie Creme is an ESPN bracketologist and analyst who focuses on women’s basketball. In an interview, he talked about collegiate women’s basketball and ranks who he thinks is best nationally, and he said South Carolina comes in at one.
The Ranking
University of South Carolina
The University of South Carolina is ranked No. 1 by the NCAA. He ranks the University of South Carolina at No. 1 in the country for women’s basketball. Regarding the point guard position, he said “losing Destanni Henderson is a loss, but they replaced it with a transfer Kierra Fletcher from Georgia Tech.”
Moreover, South Carolinas point guard position should be fine despite changes.
Stanford University
Next on the list is Stanford University.
“I think Stanford is the second best team in the country,” he said. Regarding the losses, Creme said even though they have lost a decent amount, “their best players are back and they are a hair head and shoulders above everybody else in the Pac 12.” Stanford University is ranked No. 2 by the NCAA.
University of Texas (Austin) and University of Tennessee
Furthermore, Creme explained UT Austin and University of Tennessee are his third and fourth pick. He said he considers the two teams to be “more debatable.”
Some debate No. 4 University of Iowa and No. 7 University of Louisville should be in those spots. According to the NCAA, UT Austin is ranked No. 3 and University of Tennessee is ranked at No. 5.
What about the Florida Gators?
Regarding the Florida Gators, Creme said they have “lost some talent.” He said they established something last year that is sustainable in terms of culture and unity.
He explained although they suffered some losses in the offseason, Creme thinks they should be able to pull off enough wins so they can get a bid to the tournament.
“I don’t think its going to be easy,” he said “They are going to have to earn it.”
