Ravens Defeat Struggling Bucs 27-22

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ struggles continued as they lost to the Baltimore Ravens 27-22 at home on Thursday night.

Bucs quarterback Tom Brady finished with a 27.1 QBR, his lowest rating since Week Two against the New Orleans Saints.

Brady also became the most sacked quarterback of all-time, surpassing Ben Roethlisberger’s record of 554 sacks. This is not exactly a surprise for someone who has had a 22-year career.

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson led the way offensively for Baltimore, throwing for two touchdowns and accounting for 281 yards of total offense.

Despite injuries to Mark Andrews and Rashod Bateman, several players were able to step in their absence, which ultimately led to the win for Baltimore.

Bucs Woes Continue

As the narrative has been for most of the season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers struggled to perform once again.

The team has now lost three straight, and Tom Brady has fallen two games under .500 for the first time in his 22-year career.

Last night, the Buccaneers failed to score on eight consecutive possessions, and Brady threw his lone touchdown in the final minute of the game.

The Bucs’ offense struggled the most whenever they entered the red zone. Whenever they were primed to score, they failed to pick up the necessary yards or suffered a drive-killing penalty that turned seven points into three.

It has started to appear that age is catching up to the 45-year old quarterback. While he still is posting solid numbers, he isn’t playing like the elite player that Tampa Bay is accustomed to seeing.

He’ll need help from his supporting cast, which may have lost a key component last night. Edge rusher Shaquill Barrett may be done for the season after he suffered an achilles injury last night.

Fortunately for Tampa Bay, it’s still anyone’s division in the NFC South, and there is still time to right the ship.

Next Man Up

Injuries have not been too kind to the Baltimore Ravens this season either.

Between the absence of J.K. Dobbins and injuries to Mark Andrews and Rashod Bateman, the offense is missing some key players.

But the Ravens didn’t use this as an excuse.

Wide receivers Devin Duvernay and former Gator Demarcus Robinson stepped up in a big way when Jackson’s top targets went down. Both receivers combined for 10 catches and 95 yards receiving, with Duvernay adding a 15-yard rushing touchdown.

They’ll likely have to step up again next week against the Saints, with the potential that Andrews and Bateman are unable to suit up.

As for the Bucs, they’ll look to get back on track next Sunday when they host the defending champion Los Angeles Rams.
