Remaining Schedules for ACC Contenders

With the college football season being just over halfway through, the top teams in the nation have begun to take shape. The college football playoff committee will begin making their selections in the coming weeks. This raises the question as to which contenders have the hardest remaining schedules, especially in the ACC.

Clemson

The Tigers’ remaining schedule isn’t looking too easy. Although they will be favored to win each of their games, there are some that could push them to their limit. They play at Florida State this week and against the 18th-ranked Syracuse next week. These are two games that they should handily win, but could easily lose if their offense is sloppy. Clemson is the current favorite to win the ACC title and make the college football playoffs.

NC State

The Wolfpack have set themselves up to contend for one of the New Years Six bowl games. They started off strong and had a tough loss to Clemson two weeks ago. That Clemson game showed their ability to play on the road and contend with a top-four team. They play a great Syracuse team this week and will clash with Wake Forest at the beginning of November. NC State could very well win out in their remaining games, but could also lose two or three. The offense needs to be consistent in order to complement their tough defense.

Wake Forest

The Demon Deacons are on track to have a similar finish as they did last season. They have one tough road matchup against NC State, but other than that, they should win the rest of their games. They handled FSU on the road pretty easily, displaying why they have one of the best offenses in the country. The remaining half of the season will be crucial if they want any success. Winning out could put them in a position to be ACC contenders for the conference title in December.
