Frank Vogel was announced as the Orlando Magic’s new head coach yesterday, after being let go by the Indiana Pacers 20 days ago.
Larry Bird informed Vogel that he will not be brought back by the Pacers for next season, but that did not stop Vogel’s head coaching career. Vogel and Bird were close, and he has no ill will against Bird for letting him go.
Before joining the Magic, Vogel talked with several teams that had openings but felt that the Magic was a great fit for him, considering he is a young, successful coach working with developing players.

Vogel is proud to be part of the Magic and is excited for this new era in Magic basketball. As the 13th head coach for the Orlando Magic, he wants a strong, physical team.
As a successful coach for the Pacers, Vogel was named the Eastern Conference head coach for the NBA All-Star game in 2014. Before being let go from Indiana Pacers, Vogel was the assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics.
