Gator Football Preview

The No. 23 Gators take Florida Field for their season opener against Bowling Green on Saturday. After going 7-6 last year and finishing their home schedule with a loss to Florida State in the Swamp, redshirt sophomore and offensive lineman Chaz Green says the team, especially the offense, is looking to redeem themselves.

On the defensive side of the ball, senior Buck linebacker Lerentee McCray says fans can expect to see a more cohesive and speedy unit.

With a year under his belt, defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is also feeling more confident about the development of his squad. Quinn says there are several key points he’s been hitting at practice, and wants to see them be put into effect against the Falcons.

The defense has been working hard in the off season to try and prove to head coach Will Muschamp that they are no longer “soft”, and it seems as though the unit has made some positive strides. These adjustments have caught the eye of Bowling Green head coach Dave Clawson who says the Gator defense may be one of the best in the Southeastern Conference.
