The Golden State Warriors just keep on winning as last night they have extended their winning streak to 20 with a 116-99 win over the Charlotte Hornets.
With this tremendous start to the season, the Warriors continue to sport the best start in NBA history (one win away from having the best start in major pro sports history), and they are chasing the LA Lakers record 33 game winning streak set in the ’71-’72 season.
In the win last night, Warrior point guard Stephen Curry not only got a victory, but also got to see his father and ex-Hornet great, Dell Curry honored at halftime of the game. Fittingly, his son went off and scored 40 points in just three quarters. He finished up the night going 14-18 overall and 8-11 from the three point line. Curry was so on fire, he made 24 points in a row, scoring all 28 of the Warriors’ points in the third quarter (the fifth time Curry has scored at least 20 points in a quarter).
Curry, who is obviously one of the key players for Golden State, is leading the league in points per game at 32 a game and with 640 points so far in the season. And with last night’s win, Curry became the fastest player in NBA history to hit 100 3’s in a season.
Even though Curry was ridiculous with his shots, the rest of the team chipped in to help get the win. Shooting guard Klay Thompson scored 21, and power forward Draymond Green was just one assist away from achieving a double-double.
The next opponent Golden State has to face are the Toronto Raptors away. The Raptors are 12-7, led by their own point guard Kyle Lowry who’s scoring about 25 points per game.
