The No. 2 seed Georgia Tech baseball team will take on the No. 3 seed College of Charleston at 1 p.m. today in the opening game of the NCAA Baseball Regional being hosted by the University of Florida.
The Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech (36-24) won the ACC Tournament to qualify for the NCAA Tournament; this will be Tech’s 28th NCAA appearance. The Yellow Jackets are 63-55 (.534) all-time in NCAA Tournament games.
The Cougars of Charleston Southern head into the game with a 37-20 record and are co-regular season champions of the Southern Conference. This season is the fifth NCAA appearance for the Cougars since 2004; College of Charleston is 8-8 all time in NCAA Tournament play but is 0-9 all-time against the Yellow Jackets.
Tech head baseball coach Danny Hall wants to get off to a good start in the tournament.
Hall also sizes up his matchup with the Cougars.
The winning team of today’s game will face the Florida/Bethune-Cookman winner at 7 p.m. Saturday, the losers will play each other at 1 p.m. earlier that day.
