The Florida volleyball team is back at home on Friday to face Mississippi State. The Gators are coming off a sweeping victory against Georgia on Sunday. Florida is now on an eight game win streak with an overall 17-4 record and 9-3 in the SEC.
Friday’s matchup will be the only time that Florida and Mississippi will meet for the regular season. Florida associate head coach Dave Boos says Mississippi State has a very fast offense.
“A team we haven’t played yet this year… a lot of scouting by the coaches because it’s a new coaching staff. A lot of new personnel, a lot of new transfers coming in for them so we’ll spend a lot of time on them,” Boos said.
Going into the final stretch of the season Boos said it’s important that weaknesses don’t get exploited.
“Our team is very understanding of that. We spend a lot of time talking about that and evaluating the weekend, where we are going and what we are doing… making sure we get into practice with a very laser sharp focus on what we are doing for the future.”
Mississippi State currently holds a conference record of 3-7 which places them with the third worst record in the SEC.
First serve on Friday is set for 4:00 PM. Live coverage of the game can be heard on ESPN Gainesville 95.3 starting at 3:50 PM.
