The Florida swim teams will next face Texas and Indiana after swimming most recently against Minnesota.
The men’s swim team defeated Minnesota 174.50 to 125.50. Sophomore Caleb Dressel earned a B qualifying time in the 100 back, finishing only behind Jack Blyzinskyj.
“On the men’s side, the men’s meet was pretty competitive. Big 10 team, I believe they were third at Big 10 last year, a lot of good races. We won most of the close ones,” said Florida swimming head coach Gregg Troy.
The women settled for a tie with Minnesota with each team scoring exactly 150 points. Senior Natalie Hinds earned a B qualifying time in the 50 free and redshirt sophomore Georgia Hohmann earned a B qualifying time in the 200 back.
“Ended up with a tie meet; a tremendous job the last few events to even put ourself in a situation. It went down to the last relay but it’s real tough to win a dual meet when you don’t win a relay; so we need to get a little better in that area,” said Troy.
The team looks ahead to a meet with both Texas and Indiana in Austin, Texas.
“It’s going to go up again this week. We’ve got to see the national champion, Texas, on the men’s side and a really good Texas women’s team and I believe Indiana was one of the better teams. I think they were second in Big 10 on both sides last year. So, two real good teams that goes up again this week,” said Troy.
