Miami Dolphins Blow Late Lead, Fall to Denver Broncos

With 3:13 left in the contest, Peyton Manning’s fourth touchdown pass of the day, caught by Wes Welker, would be the eventual game winner as the Denver Broncos took down the Miami Dolphins 39-36.

The Dolphins led by as much as 11 points in the fourth quarter, but could not stop the high powered Denver offense as Peyton Manning ended the game with 257 passing yards, four TDs and 0 interceptions. The Dolphins, whose run defense ranked eighth in the league with 124.5 rushing yards per game, gave up 201 on the ground, mostly to CJ Anderson, who went for 167 yards and a TD.

After the game, Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill said the team did not score enough points to win.

“Coming in we had a lot of respect for their offense, and what they could do. I have such respect for Peyton and what he can do and their offense and what they could do, but that doesn’t matter, what matters, is what our offense could do, and we didn’t score enough points in the second half.”

Tannehill threw for 228 passing yards, three TDs and one pick, and had 15 rushing yards and a TD on the ground.

Next week, the Miami Dolphins (6-5) head to MetLife Stadium to take on their AFC East rival, the New York Jets (2-8) on Monday Night Football. The Denver Broncos (8-3) head to Arrowhead Stadium for an AFC West matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs (7-4).
