The second seeded Florida Gator soccer team (17-4-1, 9-2 SEC) will welcome Jacksonville (12-7-1, 6-3 A-Sun) for first round action of the NCAA Soccer Tournament on Saturday.
The Gators are coming off a long road trip, spending last week in Orange Beach, Alabama for the SEC Tournament. They missed out on claiming the SEC Tournament title after losing 2-1 to Texas A&M in the championship match.
Now, the Gators are back in Gainesville and gearing up for the NCAA Championship.
Florida head coach Becky Burleigh says it’ll be comforting to be back home for the first round.
This will be the Gators’ 17th appearance in the tournament and Jacksonville’s first since 2006. It will also be the first time both teams meet in the tournament.
Florida’s junior midfielder Annie Speese says that although Jacksonville is an unfamiliar opponent, they will be prepared for them.
Game time is set for 2pm this Saturday.
