One of the many issues that always comes up regarding The Swamp will finally dissipate. The University of Florida is teaming up with Extreme Networks and Verizon Business Markets to enhance the gameday experience.
Upgrade Details
The project began in July with the installation of many wires, conduits and under-seat exposures. The result will be more than 1,100 wireless access points throughout multiple seating areas in the stadium. Florida Gators athletic director Scott Stricklin would comment on the new upgrades, stating the following:
“”We’ve had a variety of upgrades to our connectivity systems over the years, but this will truly be a game-changing experience for our fans. We are making a significant commitment so that fans will be able to enjoy the game and stay connected with their friends and share all of the great experiences that come with being at The Swamp on a Saturday.”
Extreme Networks, one of the partners involved, is the official wireless and wireless analytics sponsor of the NFL. According to their website, 10 stadiums use their wireless services, while 17 teams use their analytics technology. With Ben Hill Griffin Stadium upgrading WiFi, gamedays in Gainesville will be much more of a convenience for internet users.
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is already a sight for college football fans to take in the action. The upgrade to their wireless networks, which has been something that fans have begged for, will further enhance college football action for fans in 2019.
