Florida Gators wide receivers Trevon Grimes and Van Jefferson have been declared eligible by the NCAA to play this season.
The duo transferred from Ohio State and Ole Miss following the 2017 season. The two had to wait for the NCAA to decide whether or not they would be able to play this season.

Jefferson still needs to wait for the SEC to give him a waiver to ensure he is able to play. Jefferson is expected to be given the waiver.
“I’m excited for Trevon and Van. We appreciate the NCAA’s understanding in both situations, and are thankful to the UAA”s administration and compliance staff for their role in helping guide Trevon, Van, their families and our coaching staff through this over the past six-months,” head coach Dan Mullen said.
Both Jefferson and Grimes were highly-regarded transfers for the Gator program. Jefferson, in two seasons at Ole Miss, racked up 91 receptions and 999 receiving yards. Grimes only saw action in two games in 2017. He finished second on the team last season in receptions with 42. However, Grimes was a well-regarded five-star recruit in the 2017 class.

Deep on the Outside
The addition of Grimes and Jefferson to the Gators receiving bolster what was already a deep position for Florida. The two join Tyrie Cleveland, Kadarius Toney, Freddie Swain and Josh Hammond as part of a deep wide receiver core the Gators have assembled.
Last year’s receiving recorded almost 2,000 yards of offense and scored 10 touchdowns.
The deep group of pass-catchers should be able to help the liked of Feleipe Franks, Kyle Trask and Emory Jones, who are all jockeying for the starting quarterback position.
