Santa Fe Men Fall Short to College of Central Florida
The Saints had their final game of the 2017-2018 season Tuesday night after losing to College of Central Florida, 105-82.
The Saints came into the tournament ranked No. 7 and got a win on Monday night against Daytona State College. However, the Saints were unable to pull it together last night in the MFC Tournament Final. The Saints trailed by just five points at the half, but the Panthers ended Santa Fe’s season with a 23-point win after scoring 50 points in the second half.
Santa Fe shot 43 percent from the field and 35 percent from beyond the arc in the game. The Saints grabbed 30 rebounds against the Panthers and Saints’ guard D-Juan Taylor-Hodge lead the team with 8 boards. Sophomore guard Sean Flood led the Saints on the offensive end with 14 points. Taylor-Hodge, Ivan Smith and Darrel Jones all followed finishing the game with 13 points.
The Saints finished their season with a 21-11 record.
Santa Fe Women Advance
The Santa Fe women’s basketball team survived and advanced after defeating Florida State College-Jacksonville 76-47 last night. The win earned the team a spot in the FCSAA.
The Saints jumped out to an early lead of 17-13 in the first quarter. Santa Fe’s defense shut down the Blue Wave’s offense in the second quarter allowing them just eight points.
The Saints had a 13-point lead at the end of the first half and held onto the lead for the rest of the game. Santa Fe finished their last quarter of the game with 24 points taking down the Blue Wave with a 29-point win.

Stand-Outs
Freshman guard Janasia Law led the team in the big win last night with 16 points and 11 assists while also grabbing 8 boards. Another freshman guard, Brianna Richardson, added to the team’s impressive performance pouring on 14 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Sophomore guard Ivana Boyd had an all-around impressive showing for the Saints. Boyd had 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks and 3 steals.

With this win, the Saints clinched the No. 2 seed from the Mid-Florida Conference at the FCSAA Tournament and will face off against the FCSAA No. 4 seed Florida SouthWestern State on Thursday, March 8 with a 1 p.m. tip off.
