Bubba Watson won a PGA title once again after four years without winning any title.
Bubba’s Redemption
Watson, 39, won the Genesis Open for the third time in his career; his last three titles were the HSBC Champions (2014) and the Masters Tournament twice (2012, 2014).
His last two PGA participations were forgettable. Both in the Phoenix Open and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-AM, he finished in 40th position and 35th position respectively.
He dominated his rivals during this past weekend at the Riviera Country Club; his overall score during the tournament through four rounds was 68-70-65-69 getting a 272 total. Watson’s total par was -12. Both Kevin Na and Tony Finau tied for second place almost in every statistically aspect; both players had 274 in total points and had a total par of -10.
Watson had a very balanced performance in terms of stats even though he did not get at the top of any stat category. He had a driving accuracy of 57.1 percent, 42 pars, eight bogeys, 20 birdies and a 63.9 percent in greens in regulation.
After winning this tournament, Watson earned $1,296,000 in total money price.
The next PGA tournament will be the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Garden, FL, between February 22 and 25.
