The Florida Gator baseball team will play a weekend home series against the Tennessee Volunteers starting on Friday. The Gators are 23-19 on the season and 10-8 in SEC play, while the Vols are 17-22 on the season and 5-13 in SEC play.
Gator sophomore catcher Taylor Gushue says Tennessee’s record doesn’t mean they won’t be tough competitors.
Florida is 3-3 on series in the SEC, while Tennessee is 2-4 in its SEC series. In common opponents between the Gators and Vols, Florida is 3-2 while Tennessee is 2-3. The Vols were swept by South Carolina in the first weekend of April, but the Gamecocks traveled to Gainesville the following week and were swept by the Gators.
Florida is 9-1 in their last 10 games. The Gators have played the toughest schedule in the nation, with opponents sporting a combined record of 1,045-538 (.660).

Tennessee has not defeated Florida in Gainesville since May 19, 2007 when it beat the Gators 11-7 for the series victory. Florida has taken four of the last five meetings with Tennessee, including a series victory in the rubber match in Knoxville last season.
