The night most college football fans have been waiting for is finally here. And for SEC fans, the night couldn’t be better as number three Georgia goes up against number four Alabama for the 2018 college football national championship.

While Alabama is going for its fifth national title with head coach Nick Saban, Georgia is working for their first title since 1980. Georgia coach Kirby Smart says he wants his team to control what it does, not what Alabama does.
While it may be a Georgia vs. Alabama game, the Nick Saban vs. Kirby Smart match up can’t be denied. Coach Smart previously served as Nick Saban’s defensive coordinator at Alabama. Smart has a chance to beat his former mentor but says he has nothing but respect for Saban and his influence. And of course Smart acknowledges there are multiple similarities between the two programs.
Key Georgia Players to Watch
The Bulldogs have put a lot of their trust into freshman quarterback Jake Fromm. Fromm ranks fourth nationally in passing efficiency with a season high in passing yards (326) against Missouri. Fromm says he’s excited to play for the title and it’s something he’s always dreamed about.
Sophomore wide receiver Mecole Hardman is another key player to watch on Georgia; his speed is a key factor for the Georgia offense. In addition, running back Sony Michel knows what it takes to go up against Alabama’s defense. Michel scored the winning touchdown against Oklahoma and rushed for 181 yards in the Rose Bowl. Alongside Michel, Georgia also has running back Nick Chubb. With this duo, the Crimson Tide defense could struggle.
Fromm says Chubb and Michel have been a huge help for the Bulldog’s offense.

The Game
Alabama heads into the National Championship game 12-1. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs go in 13-1. Radio analyst for the Georgia Bulldogs, Chuck Dowdle, knew at the beginning of the season the Bulldog offense was going to be much better than last year. But, he was also concerned with having a young quarterback and he never thought they would make it to the championship game.
Dowdle says the Bulldogs need to bring their A-game tonight if they want to beat the Crimson Tide.
