Missouri Tigers Look to Beat the Florida Gators

A Missouri team that looked like it could have a winning season this year did not start the first half of their season with a good start. Missouri is 3-5 (0-4 SEC) is going into their home game against the Florida Gators this weekend.

The Tigers have recently looked to make a turn around of their season with two back-to-back wins against Idaho and Connecticut. Missouri hosted Idaho for their homecoming game and had an impressive offensive showing defeating the Vandals 68-21.

Last week, the Tigers’ offense seemed to be firing on all cylinders as they won their first away game in over two years. The Tigers completed a total of 583 yards against Connecticut and rushed for 175 yards. They were led by Junior Quarterback Drew Lock. Lock went 31-37 in completions for 337 yards and finished with 5 touchdowns against the Huskies.

Head Coach for Missouri, Barry Odom says that these wins will hopefully continue to give his team success.

Radio Analyst for the Tigers and former NFL athlete, Howard Richards says that the game this week could be a very pivotal one for Missouri.

Keys to defeating the Gators

The Tigers have not beaten the Gators since their 2014 season and will need to continue to find success in their offensive game against the Gators defense. Florida (3-4, 3-3 SEC) had a tough loss last weekend against the Georgia Bulldogs losing 42-7. Drew Lock has a total of 2,567 yards this season and has completed 28 touchdowns with just eight interceptions. Head Coach Barry Odom has confidence in his quarterback going into the game this weekend.

The Tigers have consistently had strong defensive performances for their team throughout the season. Senior Defensive Lineman A.J. Logan is back on the field with the Tigers after his suspension earlier this season. Logan, along with Junior Defensive lineman Walter Palmore, will need to lead the Tigers defensive line in an attempt to stop Florida’s run-game from advancing down the field.

The Tigers will host the Gators at Faurot Field on Saturday with kickoff set for 12 p.m. central time.
