With a 1-5 record, P.K. Yonge faces Trenton Friday for another district game. The Wave’s first win this season was against a district team back in September. Their only loss in the district is against Lafayette who is 7-0 for the season.
The Wave’s Young Team
P.K. Yonge’s offense is led by sophomore Jacari Byrd, who in his last game, threw for a touchdown and also ran for a touchdown. So far, he’s completed 254 passing yards and rushed for 15 yards this season.
Freshman cornerback Reggie Kyler returned the kick off for the first touchdown in last week’s game against Lafayette. This season, he’s averaging 42.5 yards on kick off returns with his longest being 65 yards.
Israel Wilcox helped the team score 26 points against undefeated Lafayette last week. This season, Wilcox has ran for 271 yards this and he’s also scored four touchdowns. Wilcox’s experience as a senior has helped the young offense get better each game.
Friday’s Game Against Trenton
In Trenton’s last game, they scored 42 points and held their opponents to 0.
Against P.K. Yonge, Trenton will have to protect the ball from a defense that has caused eight sacks this season.
P.K. Yonge will have to score more points and stop Trenton’s offense from scoring so many points. In the last game, the Tigers scored 42 points. Two games prior, the Tigers scored 72 points. If the Wave cannot hold the Tigers to a smaller score than the Tigers will definitely take the win Friday.
