UF Volleyball: Alhassan Lifts Gators to Three-Set Sweep

The Gators came into Oxford Friday and were able to come away with a victory in three sets. The Gator squad started off slow and had to make a late run in the first set to win it 25-23 but it was smooth sailing from there.

UF was able to spot weaknesses in a strong Rebel defense and jump on them. Ole Miss struggled with the hard spikes from the middle and the Gators took advantage. This helped the Gators win their 14th game in a row. Wise is also 43-0 against the Rebels as the Gator Head Coach

It was a historic game for Senior Rhamat Alhassan. The three-time All American had 20 kills and 5 blocks in the three sets and was all over the place. At one point she seemingly single-handedly won the Gators a set. Alhassan was the final 5 points of the first set that helped the Gators go on a 5-0 run that would win the game.

Alhassan was only the third middle to have 20 kills in a three-set match.

Mary Wise had many good things to say about her star player. Wise specifically talked about how Alhassan made great decisions that lead to more kills.

Mary Wise spoke about her libero’s performance and how that was a big factor in the win.
