Dominating the SEC

Florida is sitting pretty as the number one team in the nation and fresh off a three-set victory over Georgia.

The Gators have beat four of their five SEC opponents in three sets. The only conference opponent that made it to a fourth set was Texas A&M.

In their last match, the Gators dominated the Bulldogs in every facet. They were led by senior Rhamat Alhassan who finished with a team-high 17.5 points. Florida finished with 13 team blocks while Georgia finished with two.

Gators Making a Statement

Not only is Florida the last undefeated team in the nation but they also have a few players making noise for their individual play.

Rhamat Alhassan ranks second nationally in blocks per set (1.76). Carli Snyder leads the SEC and is fourth nationally in aces per set (0.57). The reigning SEC defensive player of the week Rachel Kramer ranks fifth nationally in hitting percentage (.434). Caroline ‘CK’ Knop has been one of the most reliable players on the Gators roster as she leads the SEC in digs per set (4.76).

Scouting The Rebels

Even with a top ten match-up against No. 8 Kentucky looming on Sunday, Florida needs to make sure it takes care of business against Ole Miss on Friday night.

Ole Miss has a history of struggling with the Gators. Florida leads the all-time series 43-6.

The last time the two teams faced each other was October 28, 2016, when the Gators defeated Ole Miss in three sets at home. In their last match, Ole Miss fell to Missouri in three sets. Against Georgia, Florida’s last opponent, the Rebels lost 3-2.

A player to watch for on Friday night is Kate Gibson. Gibson leads the SEC in double-doubles with 13 and she has 38 for her career.

The battle between the Gators and Rebels begins at 7:30 p.m. You can watch the match on Sec Network+ and the WatchESPN app. You can listen to the live broadcast on ESPN Gainesville 98.1 FM & 850 AM.
