Eastside Hosts District Foe Belleview

Eastside have been playing some exceptional football lately as they are riding a three game win streak heading into tonight’s game.

The Rams opened up the season dropping three straight games, but has sense corrected their mistakes. Tonight is a pivotal game in the season that also has serious district implications.

The Funeral

Coach Cedderick Daniels of Eastside rallied his team together after losing to Williston earlier this season. It was their third loss in a row as their season started to unravel. But Coach Daniels had all of his players write notes down on pieces of paper to express their raw emotions of frustration.

In those notes he asked players to share what they believe needed to be fixed and what they as individuals can do better. After collecting all of the notes, Coach Daniels read them. He then buried them along with the game footage of the first three games. Since this burial ceremony, Eastside beat Newberry, Lake Weir, and district rival North Marion.

The Rams now control their own destiny in their district and their season is looking brighter than it did a couple weeks ago.

Belleview’s First District Game

The Belleview Rattlers have yet to play a game with playoff implications until they take the field tonight. In the six games leading up to this point, Belleview is 4-2 on the season. First year Head Coach Michael Kelly has a good team with serious playmakers. Coach Daniels of Eastside says that Belleview’s wide receiver Michael Henderson reminds him of Percy Harvin due to his shear athleticism and speed.

Mutual Opponents

Belleview and Eastside have played a few of the same teams already this season. Both of these teams have lost to Buchholz. But, Belleview beat Williston very handedly 48-27. When Eastside played Williston they did not have the same success. Eastside lost to Williston 21-6.

Kickoff between Eastside and Belleview is at 7 o’clock at Eastside High School.
