Tyler Jordan Poses a Threat for Michigan Opener

Junior offensive lineman Tyler Jordan is slowly becoming a triple threat player for the Gators. With ten starts under his belt, he’s got both guard and center as his specialties. Now, Jordan will add the position of right tackle to his list of responsibilities.

Jordan receives this tall order now that seven players are suspended for Florida’s season opener against Michigan. While he’s certainly up for the task, let’s hope he doesn’t look too rusty. Jordan hasn’t been on the right side of the offensive line since high school.

Adapting to a new position

A position that’s mostly about the footwork may seem tricky for a junior offensive lineman. However, Jordan is used to fast-paced action after playing center and guard, because both positions require contact to be made quickly and proficiently. There are several adjustments that must be made now that Jordan is playing tackle. Jordan broke down exactly what he has to do differently.

Tyler Jordan also went on to say that the switch will be challenging, but it’s nothing he can’t handle. After all, he did previously dabble with the position in high school. The rest of Florida’s offensive line isn’t worried about Jordan’s transition; they see him as nothing but versatile.

Jordan also offered some reassurance surrounding the million dollar question: who will take the starting quarterback position? Although he didn’t say exactly who it would be, Jordan seems extremely confident in each of the prospect’s abilities.

QB questions looming before Michigan

Gator football head coach Jim McElwain has said that Luke Del Rio, Feleipe Franks and Malik Zaire will all see playing time throughout the season. However, Jordan doesn’t care who’s behind him – as long as he does his job, he has full confidence in his team.

For Jordan, it’s never too early to start looking ahead at the match up against Michigan. The Gators are 0-3 up against the yellow and blue all time. After losing 41-7 in the 2016 Citrus Bowl against Michigan, Florida is seeking redemption.

Jordan isn’t afraid to admit that their first opponent is tough, but he says offensive line coach Brad Davis gave the team some great advice.

Jordan’s spirit and confidence will take the O-line far this season, and he’s certainly bringing the right attitude for a future championship team.
